National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General Highlights Unquantifiable Gains of the Program to Ondo Corps Members
The one-star General shared personal experiences, citing his mandatory national service in Osun State, which brought him to the Southwest geopolitical zone for the first time. He described the NYSC program as a unifier, asserting that it has played a crucial role in sustaining the unity of the country.
The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme, Brigadier General Yisha’u Dogara Ahmed, visited the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State, to address the 2023 Batch ‘C’ (Stream II) corps members. General Ahmed expressed that the gains embedded in participating in the national program are immeasurable.
Addressing the corps members, General Ahmed outlined various benefits, including leadership training during the orientation course, mentoring, human capacity building, exposure to national issues, access to credible information about the nation, and empowerment through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program. He emphasized the unique opportunities that would open new horizons for the corps members, such as deployment outside their geopolitical zone, cultural integration, and more.

As part of his advice, General Ahmed urged corps members to eschew tribalistic tendencies, promote national unity, and build relationships during their service year. He emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility, and hard work to justify the significant investment the Scheme has made in them.
