Mr. Anthony T. Gotar, Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Plateau State Command, praised Corps Members for their significant contributions to combating drug abuse and trafficking. The commendation came during a courtesy visit from the State Coordinator of NYSC Plateau, Mr. Jonathan I. Yavala, at the NDLEA State Command Headquarters in Rikkos.
Gotar highlighted the active role Corps Members play in raising awareness and conducting campaigns for a drug-free society. He emphasized that tackling drug and substance abuse is a collective responsibility. The NDLEA Commander acknowledged the effective collaboration with NYSC, noting the agency's focus not only on arrests but also on the enlightenment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of addicts.
In response, Mr. Yavala expressed gratitude for the NDLEA's support, particularly the personnel deployed to the NYSC Orientation Camp to ensure a drug-free environment. He noted the complementary roles of both organizations in addressing youth issues, with NYSC focusing on character development and NDLEA on reducing drug abuse.
Yavala also requested the inclusion of Corps Members needing therapy and rehabilitation into the NDLEA’s drug abuse reduction programs.
