The Rector of the federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa FNSE, has presented two sets of desktop computers and a printer to the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Owerri Branch.
Myschoolnews reports in a brief ceremony last Tuesday in his office, the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa FNSE, stated that the presentation was in fulfilment of a promise made last year by the institution. He also stated that the gesture was in furtherance of the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) aimed at deepening town-gown harmony.
In a response, the chairman of the group, Engr. Obioma Iwuamadi, thanked the Rector for the presents, adding that his group was excited to receive assistance from the Polytechnic.
He promised to toe the line of the Rector in digitizing the operations of his organization, revealing that his group would soon launch its website. He also commended the Rector for driving a digital revolution in the Polytechnic, describing it as unprecedented.
It will be recalled that during a courtesy call on the Rector last year, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Owerri Branch, had requested the assistance of the Polytechnic in the area of ICT Equipment. The ceremony last Tuesday was therefore in fulfillment of the promise.
Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Rector (Academic) Mr. C.C. Onyemenonu and Deputy Rector (Administration), Dr. F.U. Ibeaja. Others were the Head of ICT Directorate, Engr. Mary Nwakanma and officials of the Rector’s Office.
