NELFUND, NANS Launch Students Loan Awareness Campaign at Ojukwu University

NELFUND and NANS have launched a student loan awareness campaign at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Anambra State. The campaign, led by NELFUND's Managing Director Akintunde Sawyer and NANS President Lucky Emonefe, aims to encourage South Eastern students to enroll in the Federal Government's student loan program.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has launched an awareness campaign at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Igbariam, Anambra State. The campaign aims to boost enrollment of South Eastern students in the Federal Government's student loan program.

Leading the NELFUND delegation was Managing Director Akintunde Sawyer, accompanied by Executive Director of Operations, Mustapha Iyal. The NANS delegation was headed by its national president, Lucky Emonefe, alongside other NANS executives from the South East region. The team was warmly received by the acting Vice Chancellor of COOU, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha.

During his address, Sawyer emphasized the transformative role of education in national development, stressing the importance of NELFUND's mission to make higher education accessible to all Nigerian students, particularly those facing financial challenges. He highlighted the growing number of student dropouts due to financial constraints and outlined the Federal Government's commitment, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to alleviating this burden through NELFUND's student loan scheme.

NELFUND offers tuition loans with extended repayment options, making it easier for students to complete their education. Sawyer also expressed gratitude to COOU for its support and called for continued collaboration to ensure widespread awareness of the loan program.

In response, Professor Omenugha thanked NELFUND and NANS for their efforts, assuring that COOU students would embrace the initiative and apply for the program to benefit from the financial aid.

This campaign is part of NELFUND and NANS’ nationwide effort to ensure students across Nigeria have access to the educational opportunities they deserve.
