Niger Police Begin Investigation into Death of Two Poly Bida Students

The Niger State Police have launched an investigation into the deaths of two students from the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, whose bodies were found in their lodge in the Kobbo area of Bida on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Oladapo Yusuf Olaitan, 28, from Osun State, and Aisha Abubakar, 22, from Minna.

The police suspect food poisoning as the possible cause of death. Upon receiving information about the incident on June 8, the Division Police Officer (DPO) of B Division, Bida, led a team to the scene. The door to the room was forced open, revealing the bodies lying in the sitting room.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, the state Police Public Relations Officer, reported that leftover food and some tablets were found at the scene and have been taken for medical analysis. There were no signs of struggle or violence on the bodies. The corpses have been taken to FMC Bida for autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing.
