Nigerian Inventor Overcomes Adversity, Builds Fuelless Generator After 15 Attempts

In an inspiring story of determination and innovation, Oyekunle Michael, a Computer Science graduate from Interlink Polytechnic in Oyo State, Nigeria, has successfully built a fuelless and noiseless generator after more than 15 attempts.

Michael, who had faced financial limitations during his pursuit, finally achieved success in 2022. In a video shared on Twitter, he demonstrated the generator, emphasizing its strength, simplicity, low maintenance, and eco-friendly features.

The generator, with a capacity of 900 watts, comparable to the popular 'I Better Pass My Neighbor' generator, can power household appliances like TVs, fans, and bulbs. Michael expressed his ability to scale the generator's capacity from 1kva to 20kva, suitable for powering entire buildings and offices with the right support.

The journey to building a fuelless generator began 13 years ago for Michael when his parents separated. Living in a remote area with limited resources, he envisioned a generator that could provide a steady alternative power supply without the need for fuel.

He shared, "I thought of building a generator that will work without fuel 247 so everyone can have a steady alternative power supply. I told my physics teacher about it, and he said it’s possible if I can build my engine to drive the alternator."

Despite financial constraints, Michael persevered. Financing his National Diploma (ND) in computer science and using his earnings, he embarked on building a prototype. Overcoming more than 15 failed experiments, he finally succeeded in 2022, investing close to 250,000 Naira in the process.

Now seeking support to mass-produce the generator, Michael envisions making a larger impact with even bigger capacity generators if provided the necessary funds.
