Nigerian Maritime University Faces Challenges, Governing Council Seeks Solutions

The Acting Chairman of the Governing Council of the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, Adewale Adeogun, has called for immediate action to address critical challenges hindering the institution's development. During a recent council meeting in Warri, Adeogun expressed concern over the university’s stagnation despite being in operation for six years.

Highlighting the urgent need for government intervention, Adeogun emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent campus and ensuring adequate funding. He noted that the university’s progress has been impeded by the suspension of projects initiated by the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).

“It is disheartening to see that despite being a specialized university, the Nigerian Maritime University is still struggling to find its footing,” Adeogun stated. “We must work tirelessly to secure government support, philanthropic contributions, and community involvement to propel the university forward.”
