A Nigerian student currently studying in England has shared her experience on social media, confirming that the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO) results are highly regarded in UK universities and colleges. In her post, she emphasized that these results are seen as equivalents to the UK’s General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE).

The student, who managed her own university admission process, confidently explained that aside from the WAEC and NECO certificates, students need to excel in the required entrance exams, particularly in Mathematics and English.
