NOUN Conducts Mock Accreditation at Enugu Study Centre for B.Sc Public Administration

A three-member accreditation team from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) led by Professor Gregory O. Okagbare, Director of Academic Planning, visited the Enugu Study Centre on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, to conduct a mock accreditation exercise. The visit was in preparation for the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation of the B.Sc Public Administration programme, housed within the Faculty of Management Sciences.

The team, which also included Dr. Nwamaka P. Ibeme, Head of the Public Administration Department, and Mrs. Florence Okeke, Deputy Registrar of Academic Planning, was welcomed by the centre’s director, Professor Charity Akuadi Okonkwo. Alongside her senior staff, Okonkwo guided the accreditation team through the inspection of the centre’s facilities.

After the tour, Professor Okagbare praised the organisation and cleanliness of the centre, but noted areas requiring improvement to ensure a smooth accreditation process. He emphasized that if the outlined recommendations were properly implemented, the centre would likely achieve successful accreditation.

Addressing the staff, Okagbare thanked them for their hard work and urged them to cooperate fully with the centre director to ensure the accreditation is a success. He further stressed the importance of treating students well, calling them the university’s most valuable asset, and advised staff to adhere to ethical work practices and continue their personal and professional development.

In response, Professor Okonkwo expressed her gratitude for the insights shared by Okagbare, acknowledging the continuous nature of learning and the value the session added to the centre's preparations. Staff members also participated by asking questions, which were answered by Okagbare, further enhancing the knowledge-sharing experience.

The mock accreditation exercise marks a significant step toward ensuring the B.Sc Public Administration programme meets the NUC’s standards.
