The Governing Council of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has proposed the segmentation of the university into zones, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters revealed during a recent visit to the Lagos Campus.
Prof. Peters stated that the initiative aims to streamline administrative processes by creating zonal offices, each headed by a zonal director. He noted that the university is still in the process of selecting qualified officers for the six zones and seeking funds to support the necessary facilities.
During the visit, Peters announced Prof. Foluke Fatimayin as the first South-west Zonal Director. He also praised the Lagos Study Centre for its leadership in the university’s operations, particularly in advancing the Faculty of Law and resuming its admission programme. He encouraged the staff to maintain their high standards.
Addressing challenges, the Vice-Chancellor acknowledged ongoing issues related to student payments, course registration, and portal access. He emphasized that the university is working to resolve these problems and highlighted the centre’s efforts to support students through orientations and interactive sessions, including virtual programmes.
Peters was accompanied on the visit by the university’s Registrar, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, and was warmly received by the Lagos Campus management and staff.
