NOUN Upgrades Correctional Centre Infrastructure
Enobore highlighted that poor access due to broken ramps had made it challenging for both staff and students to reach the office complex, often requiring long walks from distant parking areas.
Staff at the Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Correctional Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Sauka, Abuja, are expressing gratitude following extensive renovations by the university's management.
The director of the centre, retired Controller of Corrections, Francis Enobore, and his team have praised Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Peters for addressing longstanding infrastructure issues, which had significantly hindered daily operations. Enobore highlighted that poor access due to broken ramps had made it challenging for both staff and students to reach the office complex, often requiring long walks from distant parking areas.
Additionally, Enobore noted that the deteriorated condition of the office spaces—with broken doors and windows exposing equipment to the elements—had posed serious environmental hazards. The disrepair also allowed entry of wild reptiles and pests, further affecting the work environment.
The completed renovations now provide easy vehicular access to the complex, with damaged doors and windows replaced to secure office equipment and resolve leakage issues. Freshly painted walls have enhanced the office ambiance, creating a safer and more welcoming space for staff.
Enobore emphasized that these improvements have motivated the staff to focus on NOUN’s mission to deliver accessible and flexible education, strengthening their commitment to quality service delivery.
