NSUK Praises Female Basketball Team, Promises to Renovate Basketball Court

An Alumni of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Abdul Samad Rabiu (ASR) Africa, Mr. Ubon Udoh has donated jerseys to the Female Basketball Team of the University and a pledge to revitalize the Basketball Court located at the sports center of the University.

Mr. Ubon made the pledge when he served as a special guest of honor at a novelty match organized to celebrate the award-winning female Basketball team of the University, the Lunar Wolves.

Mr. Ubon who until his sojourn to the corporate world was a professional Basketball player congratulated the Lunar Wolves on their successful outing and said that he followed all the teams’ matches during the NUGA Tournament in Lagos. He stated that the idea to donate the jerseys, resurface and revitalize the Basketball Court with basic amenities was to provide the University Basketball Team with a refurbished court to enable them to compete locally and internationally.

In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Suleiman Bala Mohammed maintained that the essence of the novelty match was to appreciate the Lunar Wolves for doing the University proud at the just concluded NUGA games that took place in Lagos.

Professor Suleiman also appreciated the coaches of the team for painstakingly guiding the team to success stressing that his administration will continue to give them all the support they need to excel.

In a similar gesture, the Chairman of the Nigerian Basketball Association Nasarawa State Chapter, Alhaji Ayuba Tijjani donated a Basketball to the Team, while the North Central Representative of the Nigerian Basketball Federation NBBF and FIBA Match Commissioner Adamu Deshi promised to take four outstanding players of the Lunar Wolves to an International Tournament Camp which will hold in the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, in June 2023.

Highlights of the ceremony were the presentation of cash tokens, certificates, and medals to the award-winning Lunar Wolves and their coaching crew.

 

At the end of the Novelty match NSUK Lunar Wolves defeated the Nasarawa Amazons by 28 to 21 points.
