The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, has issued a stern warning to aspirants in the upcoming Students Union Government (SUG) elections, vowing to take decisive action against those engaging in unethical practices to boost their chances. The elections are scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

Speaking at the Council Chamber of the university during a meeting with SUG aspirants and student union representatives, Professor Liman expressed concern over reports from security agencies regarding questionable activities surrounding the election. She emphasized that the SUG elections are intended to foster participatory leadership among students, yet some aspirants are turning the process into a "do or die" affair, a situation the university management will not tolerate.

The Vice-Chancellor also addressed reports of aspirants allegedly tampering with their CGPAs to gain an advantage during the screening process. Additionally, she condemned the influence of external politicians attempting to manipulate the election through financial means and intimidation, assuring that security agencies are actively addressing the issue.

Professor Liman reaffirmed the university's commitment to a non-interference policy in the election process and assured students of adequate security on election day. She urged the students to elect leaders who would prioritize their welfare and serve as agents of positive change.

Deputy Vice-Chancellors of Academic and Administration, Professors Abdullahi Modibbo and Theophilus Lagi, also encouraged students to avoid politics based on ethnicity and religion, instead voting for candidates who would provide quality representation. Similarly, the University Bursar, Librarian, and Dean of Students Affairs, Mallam Murtala Abubakar Kana, Dr. Aliyu Abdulkadir, and Dr. Yahaya Mohammed, respectively, assured students of a free and fair election, urging them to participate actively.
