NSUK Vice-Chancellor Commissions New EDC Facilities, Advocates for Innovation and Market Expansion

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has taken a significant step towards promoting entrepreneurship and skills development with the commissioning of new facilities at its Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC).

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, inaugurated the 'Prof. Sa'adatu Hassan Liman Garden' and an expanded Incubation Unit on Monday, February 17, 2025.

 

The new facilities include dedicated spaces for baking, spices production, Masa preparation, and registration services. During the inauguration, Professor Liman commended the EDC team's efforts and emphasized the need for enhanced marketing strategies and rigorous quality control to expand market reach and competitiveness.

The EDC has made significant strides in promoting local economic development through the production of all-natural, organic products sourced from local communities ¹. The centre's products, including soap, cosmetics, shoes, furniture, textiles, paint, baked goods, Kilishi (Beef jerky), and fish, were showcased during the inauguration.

 

Professor Liman encouraged students to maximize the opportunities offered by the EDC and urged the centre's management to continue innovating to benefit the university and community. The Director of the EDC, Professor Rasheedat Funke Olanrewaju, requested additional infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of students in skills training programs.

The EDC has initiated various programs to promote entrepreneurship and skills development, including the 'COMMUNIVERSITY' initiative, which aims to extend the university's expertise to the wider community ². With AI-driven enhancements on the horizon, the future of the EDC looks promising.
