NUC Approves Pharmacy and Speech Therapy Programmes at UNIMED

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo to offer a full-time Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) and Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Therapy (B.SLT) programmes, starting on October 6, 2024.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED) in Ondo to launch full-time Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.) and Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Therapy (B.SLT) programmes. These programmes are set to commence in the 2024/2025 academic session, starting on October 6, 2024.

In an official letter conveying the approval, referenced as NUC/AP/S33/VOL I/40 and signed by Abubakar M. Girei, the Acting Director of Academic Planning, the NUC urged UNIMED to ensure the provision of adequate human and material resources to facilitate the successful development of these programmes.

Professor Adesegun Fatusi, Vice-Chancellor of UNIMED, expressed gratitude to the NUC for its swift action following the resource verification visit. He assured the Commission of the university's unwavering commitment to the success of the newly approved programmes.

"I thank the NUC for the confidence reposed in UNIMED, particularly for the speed with which the approval was granted, and I assure the Commission of our commitment to making these programmes the envy of all," Fatusi stated.

The introduction of these programmes is expected to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their respective fields.
