NUC Suspends Accreditation for Three Faculties at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba
The NUC has suspended accreditation for three faculties at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, due to staff compensation and operational concerns.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has suspended accreditation of courses in three faculties at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba. This decision, reportedly communicated just as the university was preparing for the accreditation process, has left the timing for resumption unclear.
According to a source who wished to remain anonymous, the university made significant efforts to prepare, including borrowing staff from other institutions. However, the NUC’s sudden suspension was a surprise, and it cited several reasons, such as inadequate staff compensation—where professors are reportedly paid at the senior lecturer level—and the assignment of corps members to postgraduate courses.
Additionally, the university’s Earned Academic Allowances were recently halted, and it is required to remit 50% of its internally generated revenue to the state government. Efforts to reach the university’s Vice Chancellor for comment were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.
