National University Commission (NUC) recently visits FUTA as part of the requirements for the pre-validation to gets set for take-off of center for Open And Distance Learning.
Officials of the National University Commission were recently on a working visit to the Federal University of Technology, Akure,FUTA as part of the requirements for the pre-validation of the Center for Open and Distance Learning on August 4th 2023.
The team lead Professor Udeme O. Georgewill from the University of Port Harcourt stated that the purpose of the visit was to assess the readiness of FUTA for the commencement of the programme. She expressed satisfaction with the available facilities and commended the University for taking such a huge step in pursuing the programme stating that this will make learning available for those who would need a more flexible type of study.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji , who led other officials of the NUC to receive the delegation,assured the NUC officials that the university will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the smooth take off of the program.
She also appreciated the team for doing a thorough and wonderful job in ensuring they looked at all areas that needed corrections. She stated that the Open and Distance Learning program would greatly improve the university as the foremost institution of Technology in Nigeria.
The Director of Open and Distance Learning Professor Felix Alao expressed optimism that the program will add value to education in Nigeria.
Mr Kanu Okoli and Mr Olujimi Awogbile of the Directorate of Open and Distance Learning Center of the National Universities Commission were also in the NUC team.
