Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Faculties of Education, University of Calabar, themed "Innovative Pedagogies and Global Competence Education for 21st Century Learners," Prof. Nwagu highlighted the role of artificial intelligence, flipped classrooms, and innovative assessment methods in modern education.
He noted that today’s learners, being digital natives, require skills, values, and global competencies to thrive in an interconnected world. Prof. Nwagu also called for teacher retraining to meet modern educational demands.
The conference, chaired by Prof. Idaka Idaka, was described as an opportunity for intellectual exchange and advancing innovative teaching methods. Prof. Idaka highlighted the event's role in inspiring new approaches to achieving quality education.
Prof. Arikpo B. Arikpo, Dean of the Faculty of Vocational and Entrepreneurial Education, commended the conference for promoting global competence, urging participants to leverage insights from distinguished scholars. Similarly, Prof. Benedete Cornelius Ukpepi, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, described the event as a platform for addressing contemporary educational challenges and fostering collaboration among educators, researchers, and policymakers.
The conference featured presentations from renowned academics, including Prof. Matthew Ogar (represented by Dr. Benedict Ayim) and Prof. Enoidem B. Usoro, alongside cultural displays and award presentations.
