Gombe State University, University Putra Malaysia Collaborate on Academic Advancement

Gombe State University (GSU) has partnered with University Putra Malaysia (UPM) to enhance academic and research capacities.  

A delegation from GSU, including Prof. Hajjagana Hamza, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences; Prof. Fatima Umar Maigari, Head of the Department of Medical Biochemistry; Assoc. Prof. Mohammed Tukur; and Dr. Hamza Ahmed Pantami, Deputy Director of Research and Development, visited UPM's Centre for Industrial Relations and Networks (CiRNeT) to formalize the collaboration. Both Tukur and Pantami are alumni of UPM.  

UPM’s team, led by Prof. Dr. Shamsul Bahri Hj. Md. Tamrin, Director of CiRNeT, included Assoc. Prof. Bimo Ario Tejo of the Faculty of Science, Assoc. Prof. Emilia Abd Malek, Head of the Department of Chemistry, and Nor Izwan Hakimi Bin Nor Azmi, CiRNeT’s Executive Officer.

The agreement covers:  

1. Research attachments for GSU staff and students at UPM.  

2. Immediate access to UPM’s research facilities.  

3. Creation of a GSU-UPM collaboration centre.  

4. Fellowships and research opportunities for GSU staff and students.

Acting Vice-Chancellor of GSU, Prof. Sani Ahmed Yauta, described the collaboration as a milestone in the university's internationalization efforts, emphasizing its commitment to global integration and fostering world-class educational opportunities.  

The partnership is expected to strengthen GSU’s academic reputation and enhance its research output.
