Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, Director-General of NILEST, recently hosted delegations from NARICT, FRSC Zaria Unit, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society Zaria Division at NILEST Headquarters in Samaru, Zaria.

The Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam, recently played host to key delegations from the National Research Institute for Chemical Technology (NARICT), the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Zaria Unit, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society Zaria Division at the NILEST Headquarters in Samaru, Zaria.

During the courtesy visit, the Director-General of NARICT, Dr. Kabiru Muazu, led his delegation to discuss strategic partnerships between the two agencies, particularly in the areas of leather products technology and fertilizer production. Dr. Muazu emphasized NILEST’s unique position as the only Leather Institute in Sub-Saharan Africa, acknowledging its crucial role in the establishment of NARICT. He noted that NARICT’s focus on chemical research, including fertilizer production, aligns with NILEST’s expertise, making collaboration essential for technological advancement in these fields.

In his response, Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam expressed his appreciation for the visit, emphasizing the significance of the partnership. He stated, "This partnership between the two sister agencies will enhance the status of the Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, and make Nigeria and Africa proud through our innovations." The visit also included a tour of NILEST facilities by the NARICT delegation.

It is noteworthy that both institutions operate under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology, and their Directors-General were appointed on the same day by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, underscoring their shared vision for technological progress.

In a related engagement, Dr. Imam hosted the Zaria Unit of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), led by its Commander, Nasiru A. Falgore. Discussions at the meeting centered on enhancing collaboration and intensifying safety sensitization efforts to improve road safety in the region.

Similarly, Dr. Imam also received a delegation from the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Zaria Division, led by Engineer Olayide Nathaniel. The meeting focused on fostering collaboration in areas of training and safety, reinforcing the importance of humanitarian and emergency response initiatives.
