In an effort to reinforce its commitment to touching lives, and celebrate its 50th anniversary, NYSC Lagos visited orphanage homes in the heart of Lagos on the morning of May 19, 2023.

Myschoolnews reports the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Yetunde Baderinwa, Mrs. Kemi Awolola, Assistant Director of NYSC Lagos, representing the NYSC delivered a speech emphasizing the scheme's impact on Nigeria and Nigerians over the past 50 years. She highlighted how the NYSC has consistently bridged gaps between the northern and southern regions of the country.

"We are here today because the NYSC has recently reached a significant milestone of 50 years. The scheme has played a crucial role in breaking down ethnic and religious barriers," Mrs. Awolola said.

"The NYSC represents national development, unity, and harmony. Our motto is service to humanity. We are here to show our appreciation to God by serving humanity and the community. Our purpose is to reach out to the young people here."

Myschoolnews reports NYSC representatives during the visit interacted with the St. Monica Orphanage Home and the Tunji Adebayo Foundation, both located in the Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government. 

The staff at these organizations expressed their gratitude for being chosen by the NYSC for this initiative and praised the scheme for its significant accomplishments.

 Sister Theresa Marie, the Lead at St. Monica Orphanage Home, mentioned that she had served as a Corps Member herself and was grateful to be a beneficiary of the scheme's generosity.

Mrs. Juliet Osas, the Manager of Tunji Adebayo Foundation, also expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the NYSC.

In her vote of thanks, Mrs. Bose Ojimi, the Inspector of the host Local Government, expressed her gratitude to everyone, including the Corps Members, for their overwhelming participation in the event.
