NYSC Refutes Claims of Ransom Payment, Credits Security Agents for Rescue Operation
In a press statement, NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, clarified that the release of the kidnapped prospective corps members was achieved through the collaborative efforts of security agents and the NYSC. Megwa categorically stated that no state government, individual, or agency made any ransom payment for their release.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) dismisses rumors alleging ransom payment by Akwa Ibom State government and individuals for the release of kidnapped prospective corps members in Zamfara State.
In a press statement, NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, clarified that the release of the kidnapped prospective corps members was achieved through the collaborative efforts of security agents and the NYSC. Megwa categorically stated that no state government, individual, or agency made any ransom payment for their release.

The statement further highlighted the NYSC's commitment to the well-being of the released individuals, with the organization currently covering their medical bills during the recovery period. It explicitly disassociated the NYSC from circulating account numbers and names soliciting financial donations for a purported ransom.
Megwa emphasized the success of the NYSC and security agents in securing the release of four out of the eight kidnapped prospective corps members without financial compensation. The NYSC remains dedicated to ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining individuals still held by the kidnappers.
