During the passing out parade of the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 corps members at the Wamakko permanent orientation camp, the NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Usman Yakubu-Yaro, emphasized the NYSC's firm commitment to discipline and maintaining its standards. Yakubu-Yaro noted that the scheme operates with a zero-tolerance policy for truancy and is prepared to take appropriate action against erring corps members.

In line with this stance, three members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been directed to repeat their service year, while three others have had their service periods extended due to issues related to abscondment and misconduct.

Among the 527 corps members who successfully completed their service, a male and female standout for their exceptional contributions to the development of the state during their service year. They have been shortlisted for the prestigious 'Sultan of Sokoto Meritorious Award.'

The NYSC coordinator reiterated the importance of the scheme's commitment to serving communities by deploying corps members to schools for educational roles and to rural areas where their services are critically needed, particularly in the healthcare sector. He encouraged the outgoing corps members to represent the NYSC positively and uphold its values in all their endeavors.

Yakubu-Yaro advised them to capitalize on the skills they acquired during their service year, recognizing the challenges of securing traditional white-collar jobs in today's job market. He also cautioned against embarking on night journeys, emphasizing the potential risks associated with them.

He advised, "If nightfall catches you during your journey, seek refuge at a military barracks or the nearest police station before resuming your journey to your respective communities."

The NYSC coordinator extended gratitude to Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State for ensuring the timely disbursement of the corps members' monthly allowances, which has significantly assisted many. He also expressed appreciation to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar, who consistently rewards the two best corps members from every batch with awards, acknowledging their outstanding contributions during their service year.
