Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo Appointed 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University
The Lagos State Government has appointed His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara, as the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
The Lagos State Government has appointed His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara, as the 6th Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
This follows the completion of the tenure of Professor Gbolahan Elias, SAN, who served with distinction as the 5th Chancellor, earning accolades for his leadership and representation of the University.
The appointment, made by the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the University, aligns with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 (As amended), Chapter L69, Volume 7, Schedule 1, which grants the Visitor authority to appoint the Chancellor.
Oba Ogunsanwo’s tenure is set for five years, effective from 13th February 2026, and is renewable once. The Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor have congratulated His Majesty, expressing confidence in his ability to provide visionary leadership and to advance the University’s mission and strategic objectives.
This appointment marks a significant milestone for LASU, as the University looks forward to benefiting from the Chancellor’s experience, influence, and commitment to higher education and community development.
