In a game-changing development for the University of Lagos (UNILAG) community, the Faculty of Law celebrated the commissioning of a dedicated power plant donated by Pastor Tunde Bakare, renowned lawyer, alumnus, and Presiding Pastor of the Citadel Global Assembly Church.

The donation, timed with Bakare’s 70th birthday, was warmly received by faculty and students alike. Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Abiola Sanni, expressed immense gratitude during the event, noting that the power plant would finally put an end to the unpredictable power supply that had plagued the faculty for months. “No more shouts of ‘Up NEPA’ in our community. This is a new chapter for the Faculty of Law and indeed the entire UNILAG community,” Professor Sanni said, acknowledging Bakare’s lasting impact on the institution.

Reflecting on the gift, Bakare described it as a token of appreciation to his alma mater and an extension of a life-long tradition of giving back to institutions that have shaped his journey. Known for his contributions to education and development, Bakare shared that he had previously donated to his primary and secondary schools at age 50 and 60, respectively. He expressed his joy at marking his 70th year by supporting UNILAG, urging his peers, including Justice Kazeem Alogba, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, to contribute to society in meaningful ways.
