PET CDS Group Educates Traders on Hygiene, Shares Preventive Measures Against STDs

The Peer Educator Trainer (PET) Community Development Service group of Osogbo local government recently held a sensitization on Tuesday 29th, August, 2023 where they enlightened Orisumbare market traders on the fundamentals of personal hygiene.

The Peer Educator Trainer (PET) Community Development Service group of Osogbo local government recently held a sensitization on Tuesday 29th, August, 2023 where they enlightened Orisumbare market traders on the fundamentals of personal hygiene. 

Myschoolnews reports the activity which was coordinated by the group's president, Corps Member Godwin Alice Mary and her Co-executive members was executed in a bid to fulfill their obligations to their host community.

According to Mary, personal hygiene is the process of taking care of our bodies. Maintaining hygiene practices reduce the spread of illness and risk of medical conditions caused by not taking care of the body. It also increases self-confidence and positively impacts personal relationships. 

 

She furthered by explaining the negative effect of poor hygiene as it affects the body system from functioning effectively.

 The group also enlightened the people on the causes of Sexually Transmitted Diseases, where they explained that they are diseases generally acquired through sexual contact. "The bacteria, viruses or parasites that cause sexually transmitted diseases may pass from person to person in blood, semen or vaginal and other bodily fluids", Mary added. 

 

She didn't cease to explain the preventive measures in curtailing the spread of STDs thereby informed them on some medical tips they could imbibe. 

 

At the climax of the event, the Market Women Association of Orisumbare market appreciated the Corps Members for coming around to educate them, and promised to utilize the information in their daily activities.
