Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, demonstrated his unwavering commitment to education and healthcare by presenting a generous donation of N10 million to the College of Nursing Sciences at St. Charles Borromeo Specialist Hospital in Onitsha, Anambra.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Obi reaffirmed his dedication to supporting critical institutions, particularly in sectors vital for societal development such as health, education, and the environment. He emphasized the significance of investing in educational facilities like the nursing college, stating, "We need to start contributing our quota to the development of critical institutions like the college of nursing. I am sure that in time to come, this school will move to greater heights."
Obi further explained that while the donation was originally intended for the previous year, his extensive electoral engagements and other commitments had delayed his visit to the school. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to fulfill his pledge, stating, "All we are doing today is giving back what God has given us."
Highlighting the importance of prioritizing key sectors for human development, Obi stressed the need for authorities at all levels to focus on healthcare and education to uplift communities and alleviate poverty.

Valerian Okeke, representing the college's proprietor and management, expressed appreciation for Obi's consistent support. "We are here today because of Peter Obi; this place is a college because of the students, and we urge them to keep the flag flying," Okeke remarked. He urged students to maintain and surpass the achievements of their predecessors, emphasizing the confidence placed in them by the institution.
