Scholars specializing in Physics have gathered at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) for the Joint International Centre of Theoretical Physics (ICTP)-International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)-FUNAAB Sub-Saharan Africa School. This prestigious event focuses on the Applications of Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics Simulations in Radiation and Health Physics.

The Opening Ceremony, held at the Postgraduate School Auditorium on June 24, 2024, saw the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, urging organizers and participants to ensure the longevity of acquired knowledge. He emphasized strategies like mentorship, research collaborations, and student-staff exchanges among participating institutions to sustain the impact of the school.

Prof. Kehinde highlighted FUNAAB's pivotal role as a leading specialized University of Agriculture contributing significantly to national and international research and development. He expressed gratitude to the Abdus Salam International Centre of Theoretical Physics for their financial support, underscoring FUNAAB’s commitment to hosting such impactful scientific gatherings.

The event coinciding with the 60th anniversary of ICTP underscored its enduring mission to empower theoretical physicists in developing countries. Prof. Kehinde encouraged participants to engage actively in the program, leveraging FUNAAB’s conducive academic environment.
