Prof. Yahaya Urges UNILORIN Students to Maintain Good Behaviour During Holidays
Prof. Lasiele Yahaya of UNILORIN urges students to be good ambassadors and stay academically engaged during holidays.
As students of the University of Ilorin proceed on seasonal holiday following the completion of their second semester examinations, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Lasiele Alabi Yahaya, has advised them to always be good ambassadors of the institution. He urged them to create time for academic engagements during the holiday.
Prof. Yahaya made this appeal during a chat with UNILORIN Bulletin in his office on Monday, August 29, 2024. He reminded the students that their behavior reflects the quality of education they receive at the university. Emphasizing the importance of the Matriculation Oath, he highlighted the need for students to exhibit good conduct both in and out of school.

The Dean acknowledged that holidays are designed to give students a break from rigorous academic activities but stressed that they should not abandon learning entirely. He encouraged students to prepare for the next academic session by familiarizing themselves with their upcoming courses. He suggested obtaining course outlines and study materials from their departments for regular consultation.

Prof. Yahaya, a former Director of the Institute of Education, noted the ease of accessing educational resources online. He urged students to use modern information technology positively and avoid its negative aspects. He also advised forming online study groups to enhance learning during the holiday.
Additionally, he recommended cultivating friendships with academic seniors or seeking guidance from professionals in their communities for both theoretical and practical knowledge. This approach, he said, would ensure students are well-prepared and confident when they return for the next session.
