According to him, proper preparation prevents poor performance.
Myschoolnews reports Mr. Lawal gave the orientation during the professional Orientation on teaching at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede on Tuesday.
He gave the Corps Members stated that over 90% of the Corps Members will find themselves in the teaching profession and emphasized the importance of the professional orientation as provided for in the orientation time table.
He went on to define teaching as a process of imparting knowledge with the view of changing the behaviour of the learner permanently and learning as the process of acquiring knowledge that will permanently change the behavior of the learner.
While blaming the wrong perspective on status and standards as the problems of the teaching profession, he further reiterated that teaching is a noble profession and not a dumping ground as everyone is a product of teaching.
Speaking on the components of teaching, he highlighted the teacher, subject matter and the learners as the essentials that jointly validate teaching as a noble profession with interesting methods like lecture, discussion and interaction, just to mention a few, to convey information.
While concluding his lecture, he urged Corps Members that would be assigned teaching positions for their one year mandatory service to dress well at all times, treat their prospective students with love and be good role models to all.
