The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NILEST, Prof. Mohammed Kabir Yakubu, delivered a compelling address at the 2023-2024 matriculation ceremony and orientation programme, urging the 670 new students to justify the confidence reposed in them by their parents and society. The event, held on June 14, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the new students as they embarked on their academic journey at the Institute.

In his speech, Prof. Yakubu emphasized that matriculation is not merely a formality but a rite of passage signifying the transition from adolescence to adulthood. He highlighted the Institute's unique position as the only stand-alone institution of its kind in the West African sub-Saharan region, committed to fostering an environment conducive to learning, self-discovery, and personal development.

Congratulating the students on successfully passing the rigorous screening processes, Prof. Yakubu reminded them that admission into NILEST is a challenge that demands hard work and diligence. He urged the new matriculates to carry themselves with dignity, respectability, and decorum, traits expected of mature individuals, in order to justify the confidence placed in them by society.

Prof. Yakubu also issued a stern warning against engaging in criminal activities, including examination malpractice, stressing that NILEST has zero tolerance for unruly behavior. He encouraged the students to embrace virtuous practices and adhere to the Institute's rules and regulations, ensuring that they contribute positively to the academic community.
