A Saudi Arabian philanthropist, whose name has been withheld, has embarked on the construction of a new mosque at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia). The initiative was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman.
Professor Abdul Rahman shared this information during a recent visit to the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, where he led a delegation from the university to express gratitude for the governor's support in the establishment of the FULafia Teaching Hospital. The Vice-Chancellor also mentioned the mosque project when he hosted Lafia indigenes working at the university, who visited to thank him for his role in the hospital's establishment.
Construction of the mosque has already commenced, according to checks by the FULafia Bulletin. The project, which began in August 2024, is expected to be completed within five months. In addition to the mosque, the construction will include houses for the imam and his deputy, a pharmacy, other shops, and an Islamic school.
Professor Abdul Rahman expressed deep gratitude to the Saudi sponsor for this generous contribution, stating that such acts of kindness "can only be rewarded by Allah." He encouraged the Muslim community to view the project as a blessing, promoting greater understanding and practice of Islam in the region. He also urged other affluent Muslims to invest their resources in the development of their religion.
This development marks a significant addition to the infrastructure at FULafia, with the new mosque set to serve both the university community and the broader Lafia area.
