Senate Urges Thorough Investigation into Tragic Death of Toddler at Abia Nursery

In a significant recent development, the Senate has issued a compelling directive to law enforcement agencies, urging a meticulous investigation into the tragic demise of a toddler identified as Master David. The incident transpired within the confines of a creche at Emerald International School in Aba, Abia, prompting heightened concerns and calls for a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking event.

The call for action transpired during the adoption of a motion titled "Urgent need to mandate schools to locate their creche and nursery classes to ground floors of their high-rise buildings and implement safety Udo. The protocols." The motion was presented by Senator Adebule Oluranti of the APC from Lagos during a session held in Abuja.

According to Oluranti, the young child, David Udo, lost his life on October 24 after falling from a building at the aforementioned nursery school. Sen. Victor Umeh from Anambra, while contributing to the discussion, highlighted the need for stringent control and design approval in the construction of school buildings. He emphasized that the approval process must be rigorous to ensure the safety of students and prevent tragedies like the one that led to the death of toddler David Udo.

Sen. Abba Moro from Benue echoed the sentiment, calling for a proper design of school structures to avoid such unfortunate incidents in the future.
