Six FUOYE Graduates Earns Scholarships to Pursue Doctorate Degree in US, Brazil

Six graduates from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ekiti State have been awarded doctoral degree scholarships. The scholarships will enable the graduates to pursue their doctoral studies at prestigious institutions, including Missouri University of Science and Technology in the USA and the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil.

Six graduates from the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) in Ekiti State have been  scholarships to pursue their doctorate degree with research assistantship positions at top universities in the United States and Brazil.

The successful graduates, all from the Faculties of Science and Engineering, include Afolabi Mojibola Esther, FUOYE's best-graduating student in Geology in 2022, as well as Mariam Okunade, Adeleye Blessing, and Toyin Sunday, who all graduated with first-class honors in Industrial Chemistry from the Faculty of Science.

From the Faculty of Engineering, the awardees are Alabi Johnson Sunday, a former FUOYE SUG President who graduated in 2021, Adejumo Olarenwaju Oluwaseyi of the 2020/2021 academic session, and Adele Emmanuel Oluwademilo, who graduated with second-class upper honors.

The scholarships will enable the graduates to pursue their doctoral studies at prestigious institutions, including Missouri University of Science and Technology in the USA and the Federal University of Pernambuco in Brazil.

According to Professor Olayide Lawal, former Dean of the Faculty of Science and current Director of the Directorate of Research Innovation and Linkage Programme (DRILP) at FUOYE, the students' success is a testament to their dedication and hard work. "The students showed serious commitment to their studies from the onset. They were actively involved in tutorial classes and did not allow social media distractions. My colleagues and I in the Department of Chemistry provided good mentoring for them, recognizing their responsibility, hard work, and focus," he said. 

The Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, congratulated the students, stating, "We are immensely proud of these intelligent graduates who have brought honor to our university. They have demonstrated that FUOYE offers top-quality education across all disciplines. This success is due to our conducive learning environment and excellent faculty. We wish these graduates continued success in their future endeavors."
