In a heartwarming success story, six siblings, the Lawrence sisters, who battled homelessness, have achieved a significant milestone by graduating from New York University with bachelor's degrees in Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, New York.

The Lawrence sisters, aged between 19 and 25, faced adversity when their family lost their homes in 2013. Forced to move from one relative or friend's house to another, the family endured challenging and depressing times, as shared by 24-year-old Lauren Lawrence.

Their father, David Lawrence, recognized the importance of education and, two years into their ordeal, enrolled his six oldest daughters in a homeschool program with the goal of obtaining their General Educational Development (GED) certificates. Despite the difficulties, the Lawrence sisters earned their GEDs and proceeded to attend Nassau Community College. Subsequently, they accomplished the remarkable feat of graduating with bachelor's degrees in Public Health from SUNY Old Westbury, New York.

“It’s been quite an adventure. But what really pulled us through is our faith in God and in each other,” remarked 22-year-old Danielle Lawrence.

David Lawrence expressed immense pride in his daughters' achievements, emphasizing the importance of overcoming life's challenges. He said, “I’m so happy they’ve done this together. I always tell them, ‘Life’s not fair. And when it throws you a curveball, you gotta adjust to it and keep going.”

Currently, the six Lawrence siblings are pursuing their master’s program in Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University and have plans to attend nursing school in the future.
