The President of the Students Union Government, University of Calabar, Her Excellency Comrade Blessing Alims, attended the UN Women and Partners Open Day Event. The event focused on strengthening partnerships and collaboration for gender equity and the empowerment of women and girls in Nigeria.
The event brought together various key stakeholders, implementing partners, and beneficiaries from different levels to highlight their success stories, gather feedback, and share experiences in their thematic areas. Representing Gender and Development Action (GADA) at the event, Nnenna Ugbor, Program Manager, reaffirmed GADA’s commitment to fostering economic growth for women and girls and commended the UN Women Nigeria team for their support, particularly in enhancing leadership opportunities and inclusivity for women.

H.E. Comr. Blessing Alims delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment. She also participated in a panel discussion at the Stakeholders’ engagement on the Advance Women’s Political Participation (ADV WPP) Project, organized by GADA with support from UN Women.

The ADV WPP project, funded by UN Women, aims to increase women’s political participation and representation in decision-making processes at all levels. The event brought together key stakeholders to discuss strategies on how to bridge gender gaps in the political arena and collaborate on ways to enhance women’s political participation in Nigeria.
