The post, dated August 16, 2023, had requested approval for the renovation of Zenith Hostel from the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas.

Official Channels of Communication

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the university has emphasized the importance of adhering to the established channels of communication within the university system, particularly when addressing students' welfare concerns. The VC has highlighted that issues are typically addressed officially through the Vice Chancellor, in collaboration with the Student Union Government (SUG) and the Dean of Student Affairs Division.

Unapproved Social Media Approach

The university expressed concern that the social media post was made without following the official communication channels. While the university acknowledges the students' challenges and sympathizes with their difficulties in the current national context, it underscores the importance of maintaining the proper means of communication within the institution.

Collaboration with Government

In response to accommodation challenges, the university has worked closely with the Government of Taraba State to address the issue. Female students have been allocated accommodations in Justice Josephine Tuktur Hall and Undergraduate Hostels, while male students have been allocated the male hostel facilities.

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reportedly committed to releasing funds for the renovation of Zenith Hostel in the coming week. The university urges students to exercise patience as management takes necessary steps to resolve accommodation challenges and address other welfare issues.
