TETFund Donates N2bn Worth of Projects to Ogun State Tertiary Institutions

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has donated projects worth N2 billion to three tertiary institutions in Ogun State. The beneficiary institutions include the Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta; the Federal College of Education (FCE), Osiele, Abeokuta; and the Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu.

The projects, which include blocks of classrooms, office complexes, an e-library, and a 250-seat auditorium, among others, were inaugurated at FUNAAB. Senator Solomon Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, represented by former Ogun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Professor Tope Popoola, assured that the 10th Senate would continue to support TETFund in revitalising the nation’s tertiary education through the enactment of laws.

Senator Adeola revealed that his committee has commissioned over 76 TETFund-sponsored projects in 17 beneficiary institutions across 11 states of the federation. He further explained that FUNAAB benefited from N1.1 billion, FCE N484 million, and TASCE N1 billion projects, respectively, from TETFund.

Arc. Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of TETFund, stated that FUNAAB has received allocations up to N8,759,098,751.25 for infrastructure-related interventions since the commencement of the Fund’s interventions to the institution in 2009. He noted that 91.6 per cent of the funds have been accessed and deployed to address infrastructural deficiencies in the university.

The FUNAAB Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Kehinde, appreciated TETfund for the donation of the projects, saying those resources would be used for developmental purposes. Prof. Kehinde, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kolawole Adebayo, said, “FUNAAB has fully utilised the allocations that were given, and to a large extent, we have used them judiciously to the extent that we are now qualified for greater things from the TETfund.”
