Textile Researchers Association of Nigeria Holds 12th International Conference at Modibbo Adama University

The Textile Researchers Association of Nigeria (TRAN) successfully hosted its 12th International Conference at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, with the theme "The Political Economy of the Textile Industry: Impact of Globalization and Emerging Challenges."

The conference brought together esteemed dignitaries, scholars, industry experts, students, and pupils from various institutions, fostering a platform for discussion and collaboration on pressing issues affecting the textile sector.

In his opening address, the Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Iliyasu Audu, highlighted the conference's relevance and the university's commitment to partnering with stakeholders to address challenges facing the textile industry. Prof. Audu emphasized the interconnectedness of agriculture and the textile sector, noting that agriculture provides the raw materials necessary for textile production, driving economic development and human utility.

The National President of TRAN, Prof. Grwari W. Bako, expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality and conducive environment provided by the university, reaffirming the association's dedication to research, development, and manpower training in the textile industry. Lead paper presenters, including Prof. Abdulraheem Giwa and Dr. Babatunde Adedekun, shared insights on the applications of artificial intelligence in textiles and socio-cultural narratives of the Mbula people of Northeastern Nigeria, respectively.

The conference featured technical sessions, award presentations, and courtesy visits, with participation from secondary and primary school students. The Organizing Committee Chairperson, Dr. Zainab Umar, expressed gratitude to all participants, stating that the conference's outcomes would significantly contribute to advancing Nigeria's economy and the textile sector. The event strengthened collaboration between academia and industry, exploring innovative solutions to challenges facing the textile industry and promoting advancements in textile design, fashion, science, and technology.
