Maikudi's appointment had been marred by controversy, with some lecturers claiming she occupied the position illegally. In her place, Tinubu has appointed Professor Lar Patricia Manko as Acting Vice Chancellor for a six-month term. Notably, Manko will not be eligible to apply for the substantive Vice Chancellor position when it becomes available .
