Emmanuel Alayande University of Education is in mourning following the sudden demise of Professor Adebowale Ojo, the Dean of the Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education. Professor Ojo passed away on Tuesday after undergoing a successful surgery at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by the institution's Registrar, Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, in a statement released on Wednesday. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan, expressed profound shock upon receiving the news of Professor Ojo's passing.

Professor Ojo, who was on sabbatical at Emmanuel Alayande University, was a distinguished academician and administrator. He served as a Professor of Education Evaluation and held the position of Dean at the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, prior to his sabbatical.

His illustrious career spanned several decades, starting from his appointment as a Chief Lecturer at the Ogun State College of Education, Ijagun, on August 26, 1980. He later rose through the ranks to become a Senior Lecturer and was eventually promoted to Professor on October 1, 2019.

Professor Ojo's contributions to the education sector were not limited to academia. He served as a two-term Provost of the Tai Solarin College of Education, Chairman of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, Oyo State, and was a member of various governing boards, including the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria.

He held degrees in Education from the University of Ilorin, the University of Lagos, and the University of Ibadan.

The Vice Chancellor extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, praying for the repose of Professor Ojo's soul and offering support to the grieving family during this difficult time.

The university community and the broader academic fraternity mourn the loss of a dedicated educator and leader whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
