Triumph Over Adversity: Ishaku Amos Emerges as Best Graduating Student

In an inspiring tale of resilience, 27-year-old Nigerian man Ishaku Amos, who survived a terrorist attack, has achieved remarkable success by bagging a Chemical Engineering degree and clinching the title of the overall best graduating student at Edo State University.
Amos, an internally displaced person residing in the Home of the Needy in Benin for the past nine years, faced adversity when a terrorist group attacked his school during his penultimate year in secondary school. Escaping through the fence and hiding in a cave, he eventually found refuge in the Home of the Needy.

Encouraged by Pastor Solomon Folorunsho and his team at the Home of the Needy, Amos returned to education, overcoming numerous challenges, including writing the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination seven times before passing.

Admitted to Edo State University to study Chemical Engineering, Amos dedicated himself to his studies, motivated by the pastor who sponsored his education. Despite facing financial constraints, he maintained a first-class grade, determined to graduate with excellence.
In an unexpected turn of events, Amos was awarded the overall best-graduating student of the university and received a ₦1 million Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for his outstanding performance. Additionally, he won a ₦2.5 million Entrepreneurship Award for the best Business Proposal.

Expressing gratitude to the Home of the Needy for their impact on his life, Amos shared his future aspirations, aiming to pursue a master’s degree with the hope of securing a scholarship. He is determined to give back to society, mirroring the support he received on his journey to success.
