Bright Senyo Gadzo, a determined young Ghanaian, has overcome numerous rejections to finally achieve success by winning a scholarship to pursue Electrical Engineering at the prestigious California Institute of Technology in the United States.

Bright, a participant in the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ), faced multiple rejections in his pursuit of a scholarship for further studies. However, his resilience paid off as he was awarded a scholarship worth over $92,000 through the CKDON Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting educational endeavors.

In recounting his journey, Bright shared the challenges he faced, receiving rejection after rejection, with discouraging letters becoming a familiar sight. Despite setbacks, he persevered, fueled by the determination to secure a scholarship for higher education.

"After a careful review of your application, we regret to inform you we’re unable to offer you admission into our noble school this fall," Bright recalled reading countless times, reflecting on the hardships he faced during his application process.

Witnessing a peer, Francisca Lamini, enroll at Harvard University served as a turning point and inspiration for Bright. He realized that with similar academic achievements, he too could aim for admission into an elite U.S. college. Encouraged by this revelation, he resumed his college applications with renewed determination.

"The application journey held its share of setbacks, with safety schools delivering disheartening news. Yet, Caltech emerged as a beacon of hope, turning despair into elation," Bright shared about the highs and lows of his application process.

Expressing his gratitude to the CKDON Foundation for their support, Bright plans to return to Ghana after completing his studies to contribute to the power sector and assist young individuals facing financial challenges with their education applications. He encourages aspiring students facing setbacks to stay hopeful and persistent in their pursuit of education abroad.
