UDUS Muslim MLS Students Host Grand Iftar with Orphans

The Federation of Muslim Medical Laboratory Science Students (FOMMLSS), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS chapter) has organized its annual Iftar program.

The event, held on March 20, 2025 (20th Ramadan 1446AH), featured a visitation to the Sokoto State orphanage home. It commenced with a quiz competition among four groups, comprising students and orphans. The groups were named after prominent Islamic figures: Abubakar, Umar, Khadija, and Aishat.

The Abubakar group won with 10 points, followed by the Aishat group with 7.5 points, while the Khadija group scored 5 points. Prizes were awarded to the winning group, and speeches were delivered by the Ameers of various campus Muslim associations that were in attendance. The event also included the observance of Solatul Maghrib with over 200 participants and attendees from various departments.

 

The event's success was evident in the participants' enthusiasm and the sense of community that was fostered. "This is a big win," noted Abubakar Sodiq Abdulqodir, a final-year student from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and leader of the winning group, who expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for their victory, while speaking with Vanguard Press.

In addition, Bello Sharifdeen, a final-year student from the School of Medical Laboratory Science (SMLS) who serves as the Ameer of FOMMLSS, reflected on the event's success. He emphasized that the program aimed to foster unity among Muslims of different social classes, which is part of the association's commitment to providing support, academic guidance, and practicing acceptable Islamic acts.
