UNESCO Opens Applications for 2025 AIUIa Fellowships in Heritage Research and Conservation
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in collaboration with the Kingdoms Institute of the Royal Commission for AIUIa in Saudi Arabia, has announced the opening of applications for the 2025 AIUIa Fellowships Programme.

The initiative seeks to advance research, conservation, and management in heritage studies, creating opportunities for early to mid-career professionals across the globe.
The fellowship will run for 24 months, from March 2026 to May 2028, and is open to professionals in diverse fields including:
- Culture
- Heritage Management
- Archaeology
- Conservation
- Museum Management
- Architecture
- Urban Planning
- Anthropology
- Cultural Policies
- Art History
- Arts Management
- Creative Industries
- International Relations
- Social and Human Sciences

Eligibility requirements include:
- A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience
- Age between 25 and 40 years
- Fluency in English
- Proficiency in another UNESCO official language (Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian, or Chinese) will be an added advantage
Application documents required:
- Two-page Curriculum Vitae
- Certified copy of the highest degree
- Completed application and proposal forms
- One-page motivation letter
- Two-minute self-introduction video in English (under 50 MB)
- Valid passport with expiry beyond July 2026
Application deadline:
22 September 2025, midnight Central European Time (11:00 PM WAT). Applications must be submitted to alulafellowship@unesco.org.
Selection will be carried out jointly by UNESCO and the Royal Commission for AIUIa, based on merit and relevance to the objectives of the fellowship.
