UNIABUJA Agricultural Extension Department Conducts Community Development Service Outreach
The Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Sociology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Abuja, has embarked on a community development service outreach to immediate communities for this year's farming season.

Led by 500-level students, the project aimed to identify and address the major challenges faced by farmers in the communities.
The outreach, which took place on March 9 and April 4, 2024, covered Gwako, Iddo Sarki, Anagada, and Dukpa communities. The students, under the supervision of Prof. E.E. Idu, engaged with the farmers to understand their challenges and provide solutions. This innovative service has been an annual event for the past 10 years, demonstrating the department's commitment to community development.

During the outreach, the students educated the communities on best practices, including farm yard composting and crop rotation techniques, to enhance soil fertility and productivity. The communities expressed their gratitude to the University through their community chiefs, who received a donation of hybrid maize seeds to enhance productivity and profitability.
