The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah Message to Students after Resumption, Welcome back from Election Break.

RESUMPTION: MESSAGE FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR UNIABUJA

My dear Students,

Welcome back from Election Break! I know you have demonstrated your commitment to be a great ambassador of the great UofA while on Break and you observed the best behavior and ethics throughout. I am happy to say that no adverse story was received on any student by the University from anywhere in the nation and so while welcoming you back I must also commend you for making your University very proud!

Among the newest developments at the UofA is the European Union grant which your University recently got in collaboration with other institutions nationally and internationally and the beginning of academic research and training programme in an International Master of Science Degree in Embedded Artificial Intelligence, bringing expertise together across the University of Abuja to deliver this world class programme. Your University is excited to use the opportunity of this external research grant and collaboration to establish a UofA Centre/Programme  for Artificial Intelligence with total commitment to world-class cutting  research and training in this area. Your University is making a commitment to lead the nation  in this endeavor and to put its service to the greater benefit of Nigeria and humanity. I therefore call on all who have anything to contribute in this endeavor to reach out to the new programme  of Artificial Intelligence on our campus.

There are quite a lot of other programmes and exciting things going on across the University. All faculties are working around the clock to ensure that by Wednesday this week, all first semester's results are processed and eventually released to students. The University regrets the delay in releasing results this last semester and will bring anyone to book who causes  further delay no matter who they are!

CBT exams and e-script examination is becoming a major focus in the University. We are moving forward to eliminating to the barest minimal paper exam on our campus. This will ensure prompt examinations by students and prompt grading and prompt release of grades to our dear students. The CBT Unit, ITMS and other collaborators are working hard to ensure that CBT and e-script exams are institutionalised on at the UofA. Please prepare yourselves to this and ensure that you personally acquire whatever you require to make this easier for you on your own part as a student.

Your Second Semester final exam timetable is being released and you should continue towards your preparation for the end of semester exam. The Examination shall take place as planned and our academic calendar is sacrosanct.

All students must wear their ID cards without exception when they are on campus. No reason would be accepted if any student is caught without displaying his or her ID card using the official lanyard. This is part of the UofA's security measures so we know from far those who are guests as different from Students of the UofA on campus. Students must take this warning most seriously as anyone who moves around the campus without wearing the ID would have him or herself to blame.

Furthermore, official UofA student ID worn by every student is required in order to be admitted to examination. Nobody without ID will be allowed to write examination during the forthcoming exam and in all other examinations on campus now and in future.

Your University is working hard to start the Student Courtesy Ride across the Campus. University buses will pick  and drop students who wear their ID as a mark of identity throughout our main campus, free of charge. This programme is to make the life of students a bit easier as they move from one end of campus to the other attending classes and seeking for campus services. Please behave well as the exemplary students that you are while using the Student Courtesy Ride.

Finally, the Indoor Sports Hall is now almost ready for use, and the University will soon begin intensive sports and fitness activities on campus so that all year round students have opportunity to participate in sports and exercise for fitness.

There are more to come, my dear students. Please continue to enjoy your time at the great UofA and remain committed to your studies and to becoming the pride of your University.

All my best wishes!

Abdul-Rasheed
