The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has sacked twenty graduate assistants over their inability to complete their masters degree program within the stipulated time.

Myschoolnews reports the school rule stipulates that those employed as graduate assistants are expected to complete their masters program within four years of employment.

The affected staff are said to have spent between five to nine years post-appointment without a Master’s degree within the period of their engagement.

Letters of termination of appointment signed by the Registrar of the university, Mr Gabriel Egbe direct them to return all university property in their possession to their respective heads of departments and tender evidence of being cleared of any indebtedness by the Bursary and the University Librarian before their final disengagement.
