UNICAL Suspends Final-Year Engineering Students for Violating Ban on Reckless Celebrations
This action follows a directive from the Vice Chancellor, who expressed disappointment over the students' disregard for the university's ban on reckless driving, display of colors, and wild celebrations.
The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended all final-year students from the Faculty of Engineering following their involvement in reckless and disruptive celebrations after completing their final examinations on September 25, 2024. This action follows a directive from the Vice Chancellor, who expressed disappointment over the students' disregard for the university's ban on reckless driving, display of colors, and wild celebrations.
The students reportedly engaged in a noisy convoy on campus, threatening the peace and order of the institution. The Vice Chancellor has instructed the suspension of the affected students with immediate effect, pending further investigation by a Special Committee.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Heads of Department have been tasked with ensuring full compliance with this suspension, while the processing of the students' results has been placed on hold until the investigation is concluded.
This decision is aimed at maintaining discipline and upholding the university’s regulations.
