UNIJOS Sets Date for Resumption of Suspended First Semester Examinations
The Management of the University of Jos has announced April 13, 2026, as the date for the continuation of its suspended first semester examinations following a temporary shutdown triggered by a security breach in Jos.
The Management of the University of Jos has announced April 13, 2026, as the date for the continuation of its suspended first semester examinations following a temporary shutdown triggered by a security breach in Jos.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, on Friday in Jos.
The university had earlier suspended its ongoing examinations after the attack on the Angwa Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, an incident that resulted in multiple casualties and heightened security concerns across the city.
According to the statement, the decision to resume academic activities and continue examinations followed a management meeting held on April 3, 2026, which reviewed the prevailing security situation and its impact on students and staff.

The management noted that the heightened tension necessitated an earlier break, allowing students to travel home for an extended Easter period to ensure their safety.
Academic activities are expected to resume on April 7, while examinations will recommence on April 13, starting with papers that were earlier postponed on March 30.
Students have been advised to liaise with examination timetable officers within their respective faculties for specific updates and scheduling information.
The university also assured members of its community that appropriate measures have been put in place to safeguard both staff and students as academic activities gradually return to normal.
